Limits to know

  • The tool makes equal grid sections and does not detect subjects or choose smart crop positions
  • GIF input is treated as a still image, so animation is not preserved in the exported pieces

  • Very large images or a 100-piece grid can use substantial browser memory, especially on mobile devices
  • Changing formats can affect file size and, for JPG or WebP, may introduce compression differences

Does splitting reduce the image resolution?

The source is not scaled. Each tile receives its portion of the original pixels, and the combined tile dimensions cover the complete decoded image.

Which output format should I choose?

PNG is useful for lossless output and transparency. JPG is widely supported for photographs. WebP often offers smaller web files with good visual quality.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The image is decoded and split inside your browser, and the ZIP is also assembled locally on your device.

Why are some tile dimensions one pixel different?

When image width or height is not evenly divisible by the grid, a few pieces receive one extra pixel. This prevents gaps, overlap, or lost source pixels.

Can I download all split images together?

Yes. After splitting, use Download ZIP to save every tile with ordered row-and-column filenames in one archive.
